Leisure facilities include the Castle Farm Sports centre and two swimming pools at Abbey Fields. Kenilworth is a prosperous town with a range of local shops, excellent pubs and restaurants, and a supermarket, along with many other amenities. The first mention of the settlement of Kenilworth is in the 1086 Domesday book, as a small settlement in a clearing in the Forest of Arden of approximately 100 villagers known as Chinewrde.

50 years after the Norman conquest, King Henry I gave land from the Royal Estate of Stoneleigh to Geoffrey de Clinton (his Chamberlain) and the story of Kenilworth at the heart of English history really began. In the early 12th Century, Geoffrey founded a priory and started work on Kenilworth Castle.

The town used to be one of the important centres of the Horn Comb industry, until the process of mechanisation took hold and it was said that Kenilworth had so many industries that it’s nickname was Little Brumminghami.
